Women's volleyball bags win over undefeated Illinois College

GREENVILLE, Ill. - In front of a boisterous and raucous H.J. Long Gymnasium crowd, the women's volleyball team pulled out a five set victory over an Illinois College team who had yet to lose in the young season. The Panthers gained the 15-25, 25-15, 19-25, 25-18, 15-12 triumph for their first win of the season.

Mia Bonacorsi kept the Panthers going all night, producing 17 kills and only one error in 36 total attacks to end with a hitting rate of .444.

Abby Grohmann piled on 14 kills, and Anna Beth Vancil came away with 13 kills.

The Greenville offense followed the lead of setters Kaitlin Murray and Emma Ratermann who combined for 54 set assists. Murray produced 28 assists, and Ratermann added 26 assists.

In the back row, Chasity Hill led GU with 17 kills, and Ratermann followed with 12 kills.

Greenville totaled 13 service aces in the match and were led by Ratermann with four.

Taryn Russell, Grohmann, and Lainey Hicks all provided two block assists.

The Panthers (1-3) will travel to Naperville, Ill., for a tournament on Friday and Saturday at North Central.
