Women's volleyball falls in final two matches at North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The women's volleyball team finished the North Central tournament on Saturday with a five set loss to Nebraska Wesleyan and a three set defeat by North Central.

Greenville traded wins in each set against Nebraska Wesleyan in the 26-24, 22-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-8 loss. The Panthers achieved a high hitting percentage in the third set with a .250 attack percentage. GU collected 15 kills and six errors among 36 attacks in set three.

Mia Bonacorsi posted a season-high with 20 kills in the match and finished with a double-double by adding 11 digs.

Abby Grohmann also provided a double-double with 13 kills and a team-high 20 digs.

Kaitlin Murray led GU with 25 set assists, and Chasity Hill and Emma Ratermann helped the offense with 17 set assists.

Hill also provided 17 digs. Murray was close with 15 digs, and Ratermann added 14 digs.

GU's presence at the net was let by Taryn Russen with three block assists.

The Panthers' second match of the day ended with a 25-12, 25-19, 25-21 setback.

Greenville improved their attack rate in each set, but they were unable to overcome the Cardinals. The Panthers ascended to a .200 hitting percentage in the final set with 11 kills and five errors in 30 attacks.

Grohmann was GU's leader in kills, posting nine in the match, and she also led the Panthers with 11 digs.

Murray had the team-high with 15 set assists.

Hill joined Grohmann as team leader with 11 digs.

Mia deJesus was effective at the date, providing one solo block and three block assists.

The Panthers (2-6) will play at UHSP on Thursday with first serve at 6 p.m.
