Women's volleyball sweeps through Spalding in three sets

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The women's volleyball team captured a three set 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 victory over Spalding on Wednesday night. The Panthers were led by the trio of Mia Bonacorsi, Anna Beth Vancil, and Taryn Russell who posted eight kills each in GU's win.

Russell was the most efficient attacker, posting a hitting percentage of .278 with eight kills and three errors in 18 attacks.

Vancil posted a line of 8/4/25/.160, and Bonacorsi provided hitting efforts of 8/5/35/.086.

Emma Ratermann led GU in set assists with 17, and Kaitlin Murray provided 16 set assists.

Abby Grohmann added two service aces.

On defense, Chasity Hill was the top defender with 19 digs. Bonacorsi tallied 16 digs, and Grohmann totaled 12 digs.

Russell helped Greenville at the net with two block assists, and Lainey Hicks added one solo block and one block assist.

The Panthers were most efficient on their attack in the final set with 15 kills and five errors in 43 attacks to finish with a .233 hitting percentage.

Overall, GU hit at a clip of .165 with 42 kills and 19 errors on 139 swings.

The Panthers (6-7, 3-0 SLIAC) will put their perfect conference record on the line on Saturday in H.J. Long Gymnasium when they play Westminster at 10 a.m. and Principia at 2 p.m.
