The men's tennis tennis team saw their season conclude with a second place performance in the SLIAC tournament. The Panthers, who were appearing in the final against Principia for the third straight season, were defeated 5-0.
The men's tennis team set up a showdown with Principia on Saturday for the SLIAC championship with a 5-3 win against Westminster in the semifinals of the SLIAC tournament.
The men's tennis team defeated Webster in convincing fashion on Monday in their final match before the SLIAC tournament. The Panthers also honored senior Blake Gocey for his two seasons as a Panther. Greenville swept all nine matches to wrap up the second seed in the SLIAC tournament and a semifinal showdown with Westminster on Friday.
The men's tennis team completed a perfect road trip with a 5-4 win over Franklin on Saturday. Brock Renshaw and Nate Wieland were parts of two Greenville match victories.
It will be a tall task to continue the success of the 2016 graduating class. They posted the most successful four year run in Coach Brannon’s 16 year tenure as head coach. Along with many individual accolades, they compiled an overall team record of 55 wins and 29 losses. It was capped off by last year’s undefeated regular season conference run. Despite the challenges of replacing such talent and leadership, optimism remains as the Panthers enter 2016-2017.
