The men's and women's track and field teams sent four competitors to the Carthage Firebird Finale on Friday. Next weekend, Yakana and Talahiva Talanoa will represent the women's track and field program at the NCAA Division III indoor national championships.
After claiming the 2024 title, Greenville University remains the only program in SLIAC history to win the Indoor Track and Field Championship. The Panther accumulated 208 points this year, taking home 10 gold medals.
Due to adverse weather conditions, a smaller team of men's track and field student athletes competed at Illinois College's unscored meet on Friday evening. Greenville achieved one third place and fourth finish, two fifth place marks, and one sixth place effort.
The men's indoor track and field team posted a fourth place finish of 69 points at the NCCAA national championships at Cedarville. Greenville's national champions included Wesley Kile in the pole vault, the 4x200 meter relay (Ayden Cothern, Austin Ball, Chase LaTouche, and James McMinns), and the 4x800 meter relay (Jalen Franz, Joe Gomez, Isaiah Atkins, and Drake Rutledge).
The men's indoor track and field team placed fourth of seven teams at the Indiana State meet on Saturday with 73 points in their first scored meet of the season. Jalen Franz and Lawrence Harris posted second place finishes in their respective events, each gaining eight points.
The men' s indoor track and field team received a win from its 4x800 meter relay team in their meet at Principia. Ray Dagner, James Goodenow, Joseph Goodenow, and Luis Zavala completed the 4x800 in 8:37.25.
The men's indoor track and field season resumed at Illinois College on Saturday. The meet did not include team scores, but the Panthers' Jalen Franz, Wesley Kile, Cory Stoll, and Gabe Todd won their events.
The men's track and field team began their indoor season with wins in three events at Illinois Wesleyan. Tyshawn Hamilton, Cory Stoll, and Matthew Binion all finished first in events, and Chase LaTouche established a new school record in the 300 meter dash.
