Baseball falls to Cornell

O'FALLON, Ill. - The baseball team opened the home portion of their schedule with a 3-1 loss to Cornell in a game at Family Sports Park.

The Panthers fell behind 3-0 in the game as Cornell plated single runs in the second, fourth, and seventh innings.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Panthers added a run when Klaiton Wolff singled to lead off the inning and advanced from first to third on a wild pitch. Wolff later scored when Cornell had another wild pitch.

Lukas Whitten drew the start and went four innings, giving up two runs on five hits.

Austin Rexroad pitched admirably out of the bullpen, producing five innings with just one run allowed on two hits. Rexroad struck out four.

Grant Carman had two hits for Greenville.

The Panthers (0-4) host Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday at 11 a.m. in a doubleheader in O'Fallon.
