Baseball falls 4-1 at DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The baseball team resumed their spring season with a 4-1 loss at DePauw on Friday afternoon.

DePauw broke through first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. In the top of the fourth, GU manufactured their only run of the game when Drew Frey started the inning with a lead-off walk. After Brock Timmermann pushed Frey to second with a base on balls, Frey and Timmermann combined for a double-steal. Frey eventually scored during Noah Casali's at bat via a wild pitch.

DePauw matched Greenville's tally with a run in the bottom of the fourth, and the Tigers added another run in the bottom of the seventh.

Greenville received five hits in the game. GU's hits were produced by Aaron Klar, Frey, Landon Mokris, George Schneider, and Austin Lawrence.

Jaxen Gibson provided a solid start for the Panthers with seven innings. He allowed four runs, three earned, on 10 hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Chad Plath relieved Gibson with a perfect eighth inning.

The Panthers (0-4) host DePauw on Saturday in a doubleheader at Noon.
