CLAYTON, Mo. - The baseball lost in both ends of a doubleheader against Fontbonne on Monday. The games were rescheduled for Monday after Saturday's rainout, and the Panthers lost game one 6-5 in eight innings before falling in game two 11-4 in seven innings.

The Panthers slipped behind Fontbonne early in game one when the Griffins posted four runs in their opening inning. Greenville cut the deficit in half with two runs in the top of the second when Mark Islas scored on a wild pitch and Aaron Klar delivered an RBI double.

In the top of the sixth, Blake Duncan recorded an RBI groundout to make the score 4-3 in Fontbonne's favor, and in the seventh, the Panthers took a 5-4 lead with an RBI single by Landon Mokris and a sacrifice fly from Islas.

Fontbonne tied the score in the bottom of the seventh, forcing the orginally scheduled seven inning game into an eighth inning.  Fontbonne received a game-winning home run from Daniel Youngblood in the bottom of the eighth for the victory.

Mokris finished the game with a 2-for-4 performance at the dish, and Klar went 2-for-3 in the number nine hitting position.

Luke Fleener pitched the first five and one-third innings for the Panthers and allowed four runs, three earned, on nine hits with three strikeouts.

Chad Plath was tagged with the loss when he allowed Youngblood's homer after two-thirds of an inning.

In game two, the Panthers fell behind and tied the score on two occasions, but Fontbonne pulled away in the end.

After the Griffins scored three times off Panther starter Ian Wilson in the bottom of the first, the Panthers responded immediately with an RBI fielder's choice from Dustin Sutton and a two-run single from Islas.

Fontbonne scored once in the bottom of the third, and Sutton produced an RBI double in the top of the fourth to tie the game at 4-all.

Fontbonne delivered the knockout blow of four runs in the bottom of the fourth and three in the bottom of the sixth for their 11-4 win.

Wilson finished with three and two-thirds innings on the mound and allowed six runs on three hits and four walks.

Craig Oertel took the loss by allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning.

Plath pitched one inning, permitting two runs, and Caleb Babb issued one run in two-thirds of an inning.

Drew Frey went 2-for-4 from the leadoff position, and Klar was 2-for-3 once again in the nine hole.

The Panthers (4-17, 4-8 SLIAC) host No. 4 nationally ranked Webster on Friday night in a doubleheader at Robert E. Smith Field with first pitch at 6 p.m.
