GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Greenville University eSports program has named a new head coach. Christopher DuPlayee, a resident of Vandalia, Ill., will join the athletic department as its new head eSports coach.

DuPlayee has decades of experience playing video games on multiple systems. He has exhibited proficiency in the use of Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo products. He currently has over 35,000 gamer points.

"I not only have a passion for gaming, but for teaching and coaching as well," said DuPlayee.  "I also have the ability to build a rapport with others in a fun and productive manner."

DuPlayee comes to GU after nearly 10 years with the Illinois Secretary of State office in Vandalia where he held positions as a public services representative and driver facility manager.  DuPlayee observed individuals from other communities coming to the driver services office in Vandalia because it was run efficiently in a superior manner.

Before transitioning to the Secretary of State's office, he was a wireless sales associate at the Vandalia Walmart and a substitute teacher in Vandalia.

Immediately after graduation, he was a case manager and substance abuse counselor for Community Education Centers, Civigenics and the Gateway Foundation in Vandalia.

DuPlayee is a 2005 graduate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a minor in computer management information systems. He also attended Greenville College and earned 40 graduate hours in the master of arts in teaching program.

He was a board member of C.E.F.S. from 2008-17, and he has been on missions trips to Haiti twice and Vero Beach, Florida, on one occasion.
