Football opens spring season with loss at DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The football team returned to action for the first time since the 2019 NCCAA Victory Bowl and were defeated 41-7 by DePauw on Saturday.

The Panthers fell behind 28-0 in the first half before Delrey Crowder caught a 14 yard touchdown pass from Chase Butterfield to end the first half with a 28-6 deficit.

Greenville's defense only allowed two second half touchdowns, but the offense was unable to sustain any momentum on drives.

The Panthers finished with 321 yards of total offense, picking up 154 passing yards and 167 rushing yards.

Butterfield completed 16-of-28 passes for 154 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions.

Paul Garrett ran the ball 21 times for 52 yards.

Frank Moreno caught four passes for 39 yards.

Greenville's defense was led by Ashton Moultrie with five tackles. Brandon Martin, Thomas Linnear, and Kyle Hughes had tackles for a loss of yards.

The Panthers (0-1) play at Westminster next Saturday at 1 p.m.
