Football drops Friday night game to Kalamazoo 33-23

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The football team led 16-14 at halftime, but they could not hold the lead to the finish in their 33-23 loss to Kalamazoo on Friday night at Don Stout Field.

The Panthers outgained Kalamazoo 480-428 in total yards, but GU had two turnovers and 84 penalty yards that were costly.

Peyton Bates had his season high in passing yards with 240 in the contest with 17 completions over 34 attempts.

Paul Garrett recorded 156 rushing yards on 17 carries, and Adrian Hinton carried the ball 19 times for 82 yards.

Delrey Crowder was GU's top receiver with 75 yards on three receptions.

Dewayne Garrett paced the Panther defense with 13 tackles and an interception, and Elias Velasquez followed Garrett with 12 tackles.

Thomas Linnear had a solo quarterback sack and combined with Mitchell Schaeffer for a sack.

Paul Garrett and Kourtland Harris helped with interceptions.

Greenville received touchdowns from Paul Garrett, Terrance Brown, and Hinton, and Lucas Hermo made a 22 yard field goal.

The Panthers (4-5) will look to even their season record at .500 when Crown visits Greenville on Saturday, Nov. 11 at noon. The senior day activities will start at 11:40 a.m.
