Men's basketball continues drive for SLIAC title

ELSAH, Ill. -- The men's basketball team clinched their appearance in the upcoming SLIAC tournament with a 105-100 win at Principia on Saturday.

Greenville led by as many as 15 in the game, but Principia came back in the second half to tighten the score and give Greenville a scare.

The Panthers were up 51-45 at halftime and were only outscored by one after the intermission.

Balanced scoring proved effective as Greenville's winning recipe on Saturday.  Six Panthers reached 10 or more points.

GU was led by a 15 point outing by Johari Dix.

Isiah Price and Vari Bonney both had 14 points, and Bonney completed a double-double with 12 rebounds.

Josias Parker passed out a team-high eight assists.

The Panthers (15-8, 12-4 SLIAC) travel to Spalding on Wednesday, and their next win will secure no worse than a tie for their third straight SLIAC regular season championship.
