Men's basketball completes sweep of SLIAC home games; honors seniors

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team recovered from a 61-58 halftime deficit and came alive in the second half to defeat Principia 120-111 and complete a perfect 9-0 home conference season.

Before the game, GU honored seniors Sontiago Grady, Eric Williams, Barry Nixon, Riley Simmons, Darrell Williams, and Kendall Edmond in a special ceremony.

Henry Johnson provided Greenville with its top scoring performance, netting 22 points on 9-of-15 field goals, 3-of-5 three-pointers, and 1-of-4 free throws.

Grady ended with 18 points, and he joined Marvin Bateman for the team-high with five assists.

Simmons added 16 points and nine rebounds, and Chris Jackson had five steals.

Greenville led by as many as 14 points with 2:14 to play in the game. The game featured 14 ties and 15 lead changes. The Panthers did not trail over the last 15 minutes of the contest.

The Panthers won their fifth consecutive game, and they return to action on Wednesday at Blackburn at 7:30 p.m.
