Men's basketball surpasses 100 points in loss at Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. - The men's basketball team played their first game of the season in their home state of Illinois and were topped 177-108 by Illinois State on Wednesday. The triple-digit scoring output was Greenville's highest of the season and the first time this year that they passed the century mark.

First-year Panther Kenneth Cooley was the top scorer in the contest with 31 points. He sank 14-of-22 shots from the floor, including a 2-of-6 mark behind the three-point arc, and a 1-of-3 performance at the free throw line. Cooley also led GU in rebounds with six. Cooley ended with 16 points in the first half and 15 in the second period.

Greenville trailed 83-50 at the half.

Travis Dickey finished with 11 points for GU, and Greenville's 10 point scorers were Kaidyn Johnson and Romello Ball.

Dustin Bańkowski was the top assist man for the Panthers with five helpers.

Cooley, Bańkowski, and Ball each had two of Greenville's steals.

The Panthers (0-4) will travel to Bradley for a game on Monday, Dec. 7.
