GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team bettered Webster on Wednesday 140-128, gaining their first win of the 2020-21 season.

GU led 71-59 at halftime and held on for the win despite Webster cutting the Panther lead to seven points in the second half.

Phillip Curtis finished the game as GU's top scorer with 24 points, and Henry Johnson and Ralph Jalnaiz posted 18 point outings.

Greenville had five other players surpass 10 points with Kenneth Cooley, Romello Ball, and Travis Dickey all recording 13 points and Dustin Bankowski ending with 12 points.

The pressure of GU's system style of play forced 33 Webster turnovers as the Panthers collected 28 steals.  Johnson was the most proficient on Greenville's roster in accumulating steals as he finished with five.

The Panthers (1-7, 1-0 SLIAC) go to Spalding on Saturday.
