Men's basketball rescued by Ball's late trey in win over Westminster

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team received a three-pointer from Romello Ball in the final seconds of the game, erasing a two point deficit and pushing the Panthers ahead 138-137 before Dustin Bankowski added two late free throws in GU's 140-137 win on Tuesday night.

The Panthers led for nearly the entire game, taking a 67-58 lead at halftime, but they faced a a two-point 137-135 deficit in the final minute before Ball's heroics.

Every Panther player that competed in the game ended with a double figure scoring effort. Kenneth Cooley led GU's group of point producers with a 24 point outing. Cooley also ended with 12 rebounds and five blocked shots.

Ball and Phillip Curtis each ended with 17 points, and Bankowski posted 15 points.

Ball finished as GU's top assist man with nine.

The Panthers (2-8, 2-1 SLIAC) go to Webster on Friday night for a game at 7:30 p.m.
