Men's basketball hands Eureka first conference loss

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team handed Eureka their first conference loss of the season with a 138-129 win in H.J. Long Gymnasium on Friday night.

The Panthers received a 27 point performance from Kameron Vinsel as he established a career-high scoring mark, bettering his 26 point effort at home against MacMurray last February.

A pair of Panthers, Jarred Johnson and Romello Ball, ended with 17 points in the game. Johnson added a career-high eight steals to his statistical line, doubling his previous career-high.

Overall, the Panthers collected 24 steals and the Red Devils suffered 30 turnovers.

Ralph Jalnaiz posted 14 points, and Travis Dickey ended with 11 points.

Isiah Dortch recorded 10 points in just five minutes of action, and Dustin Bankowski also ended with 10 points.

The Panthers led 69-67 at halftime and pushed their lead to 16 points with 4:05 remaining before settling on the 11-point win.

Greenville (3-9, 3-2 SLIAC), currently tied for third in the conference standings, will host first place Blackburn on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
