Men's basketball season concludes in SLIAC tournament semifinals

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball season concluded on Thursday night with a semifinal loss in the SLIAC tournament. Greenville fell to Fontbonne 152-122.

Greenville led in the early moments of the game, opening up an 11 point, 35-24 lead with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half.

Fontbonne closed the first half with a 41-21 advantage in the final 10 minutes and opened up a 65-56 lead over Greenville at halftime.

The Griffins outscored Greenville 85-64 in the second half.

Jarred Johnson finished as Greenville's leading scorer with 23 points off the bench. Johnson sank 8-of-13 field goals, 6-of-11 three-pointers, and 1-of-3 free throws.

Henry Johnson posted 18 points in the contest, and Ralph Jalnaiz and Travis Dickey each added 14 points. Kendall Edmond provided 13 points.

Tyler Jelks was Greenville's leading rebounder with six, and Romello Ball tallied a team-high eight assists.

The Panthers totaled 22 steals in the game, and the team received five steals apiece from Henry Johnson and Jalnaiz.

The Panthers wrapped up the unusual 2020-21 season with a record of 4-11, and they were third in the SLIAC standings with a record of 4-3.
