Lampley lights up North Park with final three in GU's 119-117 win

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team benefited from the return of several key players in their 119-117 defeat of North Park on Saturday afternoon in Greenville. The Panthers trailed by one with 27 seconds to play, and the Panthers put the ball in the hands of Romello Ball who penetrated the lane and kicked it out to L.J. Lampley who knocked down a three pointer with 2.6 seconds to play for the win.

The Panthers trailed by as many as nine points in the first half, but Greenville shifted the score 17 points in their favor to lead 63-55 at halftime.

North Park flipped the momentum on the Panthers, eventually taking a five point lead.

However, Greenville responded with a run of their own, rebuilding a six point advantage with 11:12 to play.

The teams were not separated by any more than six points for the remainder of the game.

GU's Everett Campbell ended as the high scorer for the team with 18 points, leading a group of seven men with double figures in the scoring column.

Jarred Johnson posted 16 points, and Chris Jackson added 15 points.

Two Panthers - Dom Redding and Kaidyn Johnson - ended with 14 points, and Kenneth Cooley provided 10 points.

GU's top rebounder was Kaidyn Johnson with six, and Ball had the team highs with five assists and five steals.

Overall, Greenville's constant pressure resulted in 40 North Park turnovers.

The Panthers (1-4) return to the floor at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
