Men's basketball topped 138-125 by Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. - The men's basketball team fell 138-125 in a non-conference game against CCIW opponent Carthage on Tuesday.

The Panthers received half of Kenneth Cooley's game high 32 points in the first half as Carthage built a 71-50 lead.

Greenville only trailed by four, 52-48, with 3:30 to go in the first half, but the Firebirds put together a 19-2 run to end the half.

In the second half, the Panthers whittled the deficit down to 13 points, but they could not work their way back enough for the win.

Greenville finished the game with six players exceeding 10 points. In addition to Cooley's 32 points, Carlos Crespo ended with 17, and Cam Irvin posted 16.

Romello Ball had 14 points, and Everett Campbell and Jarred Johnson each posted 13.

Cooley also led GU with seven rebounds, and Ball was tops in assists with five.

Chris Jackson contributed four of Greenville's 13 steals, but the Panthers only managed to force 23 Carthage turnovers.

Greenville made 45-of-97 shots, including 16-of-44 three pointers. Greenville shot 67.9 percent at the free throw line with a 19-of-28 mark.

The Panthers (1-5) return to action at the Georgetown (Ky.) tournament that will be played on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving.
