Men's basketball falls to Midway in Georgetown tourney

GEROGETOWN, Ky. - The men's basketball team opened play in the Georgetown tournament with a 157-135 loss to Midway on Friday.

The Panthers received a 23 point outing from Chris Jackson and 17 points from Jarred Johnson in the game. Jackson also managed to lead GU with five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Carlos Crespo and L.J. Lampley joined Jackson with four assists.

Greenville had five other players reach double-figures in the scoring column. Kenneth Cooley posted 15 points and a trifecta of Romello Ball, Kaidyn Johnson, and Crespo all ended with 13 points. Cam Irvin added 12 points.

Greenville and Midway were matched at 51-all after a three pointer from Travis Dickey with 7:40 to go in the first half, but that was the last time Greenville was tied in the contest. Midway took the lead shortly thereafter.

Midway gradually worked their way to an 81-75 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Midway pushed their advantage to double figures, outscoring the Panthers 76-60 in the period.

The Panthers (1-6) will conclude their November schedule on Saturday afternoon with a game against Georgetown.
