Men's basketball topped by Westminster as they seek first conference win

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team led Westminster 56-53 at halftime, but the Blue Jays pulled away with an 80-58 second half as Greenville lost 133-114 to Westminster on Thursday night in H.J. Long Gymnasium.

Cam Irvin ended as Greenville's leading scorer with 28 points in the contest. He made 9-of-22 shots, including 6-of-16 three pointers, and all four of his free throws.

Jarred Johnson joined Irvin at the 20 point plateau with an even 20 in the game.

Kaidyn Johnson provided GU with 15 points, Romello Ball had 14 points, and Everett Campbell gave the Panthers 11 points.

GU's top rebounder was Kenneth Cooley with six caroms. Cooley fouled out with 10:44 to go with Greenville trailing 86-80. Cooley also led the team with four assists.

The Panthers produced 21 steals in the game, led by Ball with five and Everett and Kaidyn Johnson with four each.

Greenville (1-15, 0-5 SLIAC) hosts Blackburn on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
