Men's basketball captures second consecutive win with victory over Eureka

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team recorded their second straight win with a 115-108 victory over Eureka on Wednesday night at H.J. Long Gymnasium.

The Panthers trailed 54-51 at halftime but took control by outscoring Eureka 64-54 in the second half.

GU tied the score at 70-all on a jumper by Kaidyn Johnson with 14:41 to play in the game and received a tip in bucket from Jarred Johnson to establish a lead that they would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest.

The Red Devils got as close as two points, but then the Panthers pushed back ahead.

Kenneth Cooley posted the high scoring effort for GU with 21 points, and Romello Ball added 18 points.

Julius Erby had a 14 point outing, Jarred Johnson posted 13 points, and Kaidyn Johnson added 12 points.

Travis Dickey rounded out the collection of double-figure scorers with 10 points.

The Panthers tied Eureka at 51-all in rebounds with Erby leading the Panthers with 10.

Ball and Chris Jackson were GU's leaders with three steals each as Greenville forced 24 turnovers.

The Panthers only totaled 17 turnovers.

The Panthers (4-20, 3-10 SLIAC) will host Spalding on Saturday at 3 p.m. in their final home game of the season.
