Men's soccer wins rematch with Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The men's soccer team avenged a non-conference loss to Fontbonne earlier this season with a 2-1 victory in double overtime on Saturday.

Greenville won the match in the 104th after an own goal by Fontbonne.

The Panthers forced the match to overtime with a goal by Juan Jaimes with less than 10 minutes to play when they were trailing 1-0. Benn Jane was credited with the assist.

Overall, the Panthers finished the match with a 24-16 shot deficit.

Gerardo Lopez protected Greenville's net with nine saves.

Jared McPeek and Napoleon Urquidi paced Greenville with three shots each.

The Panthers (1-3-1, 1-1-1 SLIAC) host Westminster on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
