GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's tennis team easily handled Illinois College in a 9-0 win on Wednesday afternoon. The Panthers played at home for the first time this year and only faced a challenge in No. 1 singles while cruising through the other matches.
The duos of No. 2 Austin Burkhart/Zach Merrill and No. 3 Mathew Rodriguez/Matt Lehr earned 8-0 wins. The No. 1 team of Luke Motsinger/Tyler Blume captured an 8-2 win.
In singles competition, No. 2 Burkhart, No. 4 Rodriguez, No. 5 Thibaut Tignee, and No. 6 Lehr defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0.
No. 3 Blume only dropped a game in each set and managed to take a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win.
No. 1 Motsinger won his first set 6-1 before losing the second set 6-3. He took the tiebreaker win 10-7.
The Panthers (1-3) will travel to Cornell College in Iowa on March 13 in their return to action.
