NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The men's track and field team had their final tune-up prior to the NCAA national championships. Jarrid Williams was an event winner in the long jump, and Andrew Sharp was the champion in the 800 meter run.
Williams reached a distance of 7.29 meters in his final try to outperform the runner up by 21 hundredths of a meter. Anthony Cable was also entered in the long jump and finished fourth with a mark of 7.03 meters.
Sharp took the win in the 800 with a time of 1:51.57. It was his best time of the season.
Williams took second place in the triple jump with a leapt of 14.50 meters. He was runner up by 22 hundredths of a meter.
Phil Wilsman threw the javelin a distance of 43.93 meters on his fourth attempt in collecting seventh place.
John Mangold clocked a time of 4:03.58 in the 1500 meter run to place 16th.
Qualifying members of the track and field program will participate in the NCAA national championships next weekend in Ohio.
