Men's track and field places first at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The men's indoor track and field team returned to Illinois College on Saturday, and the Panthers came out on top with 68 points to easily win the meet.

Hunter Matthews was the winner in the high jump, passing a height of 1.95 meters (6 feet-4.75 inches). He cleared his first and only attempt at 6-4.75.

Dylan Webster finished first in the pole vault, successfully completing his first and only attempt at 4.21 meters (13-9.75).

Also in the field events, Di'Mond Salmond took the triple jump win with a mark of 13.22 meters (43-4.5).

The men's 4000 meter distance medley relay team placed first in 11:24.16 with Gianni Estrada, Tony Lakotich, Joe Gomez, and Jeremiah Perry helping GU to the win.

Perry also won the 800 meter run in 2:05.79.

In the one-mile run, Lukas Baird finished first with a time of 4:37.11.

The Panthers have Saturday's SLIAC indoor championships as their next meet on the schedule.
