GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's track and field team finished in the fourth place position at the NCCAA national championships at Greenville University in a meet spanning Wednesday through Friday.
The Panthers recorded 64.5 points just holding ahead of York for a trophy position. Greenville posted three All-American performances.
Joe Gomez, Joshua Medlin, Lukas Baird, and Collin Kessinger managed to lead the Panthers with a silver medal in the 4x800 meter run, clocking a time of 7:53.18.
Alex Fink and Jared Beyers finished third and fourth in the 400 meter dash with times of 49.67 seconds and 49.81 seconds, respectively.
Justin Miller was a medalist in the men's javelin with a throw of 50.93 meters (167-1) for third place.
Fink, Beyers, Kessinger, and Tony Lakotich led the 4x400 meter relay team to a fourth place finish in 3:23.60.
Dylan Webster was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.63 meters (21 feet-9 inches).
Gianni Estrada completed the 5000 meter run in 16:02.70, taking sixth and collecting three points.
Greenville's 4x100 meter relay team ended sixth with a time of 44.25 seconds. The team was comprised of Di'Mond Salmond, Fink, Dylan Webster, and Hunter Matthews.
Matthews tied for fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.95 meters (6 feet-4.75 inches).
Webster and Wesley Kile placed fifth and sixth in the pole vault. Webster passed 4.45 meters (14-7.25), and Kile cleared 4.30 meters (14-1.25). Thomas Harris tied for seventh in the pole vault at 3.70 meters (12-1.5).
In the triple jump, Salmond, Webster, and DeVondre Gaston took the sixth through eighth positions. Salmond reached 13.22 meters (43-4.5), Webster posted a mark of 12.97 meters (42-6.75), and Gaston ended with a distance of 12.59 meters (41-3.75).
Maurice Radtke posted the sixth place throw in the shot put, ending at 13.80 meters (45-3.5).
In the 3000 meter steeplechase, Jeremiah Perry posted a time of 10:13.44 for two points and seventh place.
Turjon McLaurin placed eighth in the discus at 37.23 meters (122-2).
Carson Rantanen actually finished first in the preliminaries of the 100 meter dash when he recorded a time of 10.88 seconds, but he was unable to compete in the finals due to an injury sustained in the event. His status is unclear for the NCAA qualifier at North Central and the NCAA Division III national meet.
Selected members of the team will head to North Central on Wednesday and Thursday for their last attempt to advance to the NCAA Division III outdoor nationals.
