Men's track and field collects four wins at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The men's indoor track and field team participated in the Illinois College Snow Bird Invite on Saturday where they received wins in four events.

CJ Anderson was the event winner in the 55 meter dash, clocking a top time of 6.41 seconds in the preliminaries, followed by a winning time of 6.39 seconds in the finals.

His teammate Carson Rantanen was second in the finals with a time of 6.51 seconds after previously ending third in the prelims with a time of 6.51 seconds.

Collin Kessinger and Lukas Baird took the top two times in the 800 meter run. Kessinger recorded a finish of 2:01.83 to win the event, followed by Baird with a mark of 2:07.80.

Greenville's high jumpers led the way, paced by Hunter Matthews' winning height of 1.90 meters (6 feet-2.75 inches). Webster also cleared 1.90 meters (6-2.75), but Matthews was awarded the win because he cleared the height of 6-2.75 on his second attempt whereas Webster took three tries to surpass 6-2.75.

Nate Brown was the champion in the weight throw with a distance of 16.28 meters (53-5).

In the 400 meter dash, Chase LaTouche was second with a time of 53.21 seconds.

Kaleb Carlson provided GU with a second place time in the mile run, finishing in 4:38.90.

Dylan Webster gave Greenville a second place performance in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.70 seconds.

Greenville's 4x200 meter relay team comprised of Noel Andino, LaTouche, Carlson, and Kessinger were second with a time of 3:37.42.

The Panthers will return to action on Friday at Principia in another indoor meet.
