Men's indoor track and field collects third straight indoor SLIAC title

ELSAH, Ill. - The men's track and field team piled up 339 points in their dominating win at the SLIAC indoor championships on Saturday.  Greenville's total was more than five times better than Principia's 67 points.

Greenville gained wins in all but three of the events hosted in the championships.

C.J. Anderson eeked out a win over teammate Carson Rantanen in the 60, winning by three thousandths of a second with a time of 6.897 seconds. Anderson also took the 200 meter dash in 27.47 seconds, barely defeating Rantanen by one hundredth of a second.

The win in the 800 meter run went to Collin Kessinger with a time of 2:10.89.

Kaleb Carlson picked up two wins. He was the champion in the one mile run with a time of 4:29.66, and he won the 3000 with a time of 9:16.28.

The distance medley team including Jeremiah Perry, Noel Andino, Ray Danger, and Osvaldo Espinoza ended with the Panthers recording a time of 12:39.91 for the title.

In the field events, Hunter Matthews cleared 1.90 meters for the win in the high jump.

Wesley Kile's height of 4.09 meters in the pole vault defeated his teammate Dylan Webster.

Webster was the winner in the long jump, posting a distance of 6.38 meters, and he also finished on top in the triple jump with a mark of 13.19 meters.

Nate Brown had a distance of 13.85 meters in the shot put for first place, and he also had the best attempt in the weight throw at 18.21 meters.

The Panthers will compete in last chance qualifying meets next weekend as they aim to improve their best marks for the NCAA Division III national championships.
