Men's track and field takes second at McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. - The men's track and field team received wins in three events at McKendree's meet on Saturday and took second place in the team competition with 107 points. The Panthers brought back a pair of wins from Nate Brown and a victory from GU's 4x100 meter relay team during the event.

Brown took victories in the hammer throw and shot put while placing second in the discus throw. In Brown's winning hammer throw, he reached a distance of 46.98 meters (154 feet-2 inches), and he posted a mark of 14.52 meters (47-7.75) in the shot put.

In the discus throw, Brown was the runner-up with a distance of 44.20 meters (154-0).

Four of Greenville's top sprinters - Chase LaTouche, Carson Rantanen, Jared Beyers, and C.J. Anderson - found themselves with the best time in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 41.96 seconds.

Individually, Anderson placed second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.28 seconds.

Blake Thebeau posted an attempt of 44.32 meter (145-5) in the hammer throw to earn GU another second place finish.

Turjon McLaurin reached a distance of 42.62 meters (139-10) in the hammer throw as one of GU's third place finishers,

Carter Kessinger raced to third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.57 around the track, and the 4x400 meter relay team of Chase LaTouche, Noel Andino, Collin Kessinger, Claudio Trevino placed third with a time of 3:22.93.

The Panthers return to the track at their own GU Select Meet on Friday, April 15, in Greenville.
