Men's track and field takes runner-up position at Greenville Select Meet

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's track and field team placed second at the Greenville Select Meet on Friday at Greenville University's track and field complex.

Nate Brown produced the winning throw in the discus, hitting a mark of 46.01 meters (150 feet-11 inches). He was second in the hammer throw, achieving a distance of 47.75 meters (156-8). Brown also won the shot put with an attempt of 14.93 meters (48-11.75).

Colton Rich was the day's winner in the javelin, giving GU an effort of 44.84 meters (147-1).

The Greenville 4x100 meter relay team included Carson Rantanen, C.J. Anderson, Chase LaTouche, and Jared Beyers. They were the winners in 41.66 seconds.

Dylan Goodyear broke his own school record in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a winning time of 9:16.11, bettering his previous best by over two seconds.

Anderson won the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.64 seconds, and Carson Rantanen was third in 10.98 seconds. Anderson made it three wins on the afternoon with a time of 21.99 seconds in the 200 meter dash.

Wesley Kile tied for second place in the pole vault with a height of 4.60 meters (15-1).

The Greenville 4x400 meter relay team consisted of Jared Beyers, Chase LaTouch, Claudio Trevino, and Noel Andino. They were second in 3:23.74.

Dylan Webster ranked fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.90 meters (6 feet-2.75 inches). He was one of five with that mark, but he was awarded fourth place in a jump-off that went back to his result at 1.85 meters when he cleared his third attempt. The second place winner entered at 1.90 meters and cleared the height on his first attempt, and the third place recipient cleared 1.85 meters on his second try.

Webster was also fourth in the pole vault at 4.35 meters (14-3.25).

Isaac Green took fourth place in the long jump, achieving a distance of 6.39 meters (20-11.75).

Colton Underwood occupied the fourth place position in the triple jump with a distance of 13.14 meters (43-1.50).

Turjon McLaurin had the fourth place throw in the discus at 35.99 meters (118-1).

Greenville finished with a a total of 166 points. WashU was the winner with 294.50 points.

The Panthers continue their season at Rose-Hulman on Friday.
