Men's track and field to send four entries to NCAA Division III championships after Augustana qualifier

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The men's track and field team competed in their final qualifying meet at Augustana on Thursday evening.  After the results of Thursday's competition, Carson Rantanen, C.J. Anderson, the 4x100 meter relay team, and Dylan Webster will all advance to the NCAA Division III national championships in Rochester, N.Y.

Dylan Webster finished second with a height of 1.98 meters (6 feet-6 inches) in the high jump.

GU's 4x100 meter relay team of Chase LaTouche, Carson Rantanen, Kourtland Harris, and C.J. Anderson completed the race in 40.82 seconds for third place.

In the 4x400 meter relay, Claudio Trevino, Noel Andino, Harris, and LaTouche combined for a 14th place time of 3:17.66.

Blake Thebeau posted a 17th place distance of 48.78 meters (160-0) in the hammer throw.

As the calendar turns to the NCAA Division III championships, Greenville will have four entries on the men's side of the event.

Greenville's top two sprinters - Rantanen and Anderson - will compete in the 100 meter dash. Rantanen has the fifth best time, and Anderson posted the 12th best time.

Rantanen clocked a season best time of 10.41 seconds at the SLIAC outdoor championships on April 28, and Anderson recorded his season best performance of 10.47 seconds at the WashU five way on March 25.

GU's 4x100 meter relay team includes Chase LaTouche, Rantanen, Kourtland Harris, and Anderson. They qualified with their best performance on Thursday at Augustana.

Webster had a jump of 2.05 meters (6-8.75) at the Rose-Hulman Twilight on April 21, and he will be the ninth best entry in the championships.

Action gets underway on Thursday, May 25, for Greenville with the 4x100 meter relay at 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT.

GU's 100 meter dash entries will run at 6 p.m. ET/5 p.m. CT on Friday, May 26.

The high jump will be held at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT on Saturday, May 27. The final of the 4x100 meter relay is scheduled for 12:55 p.m. ET/11:55 a.m. CT on Saturday, and the 100 meter dash will be run at 2:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. CT. on Saturday.
