Men's indoor track and field wins 10 titles in SLIAC championship performance

ELSAH, Ill. - After claiming the 2024 title, Greenville University remains the only program in SLIAC history to win the Indoor Track and Field Championship. The Panther accumulated 208 points this year, taking home 10 gold medals.

Freshman Ayden Cothern lays claim as the fastest man in the conference, winning the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.97 seconds. Joshua Medlin picked up golf in the mile while Gianni Estrada won his second straight 3000 meter race. Austin Ball closed out the individual golds for the Panthers on the track, winning the 60 hurdles in record time while the 4x400 relay team of Ball, Jalen Franz, James McMinns, and Chase LaTouche placed 1st.

Lawrence Harris picked up gold in the high jump with a mark of 6'2" while Wesley Kile held onto his pole vault title reign, winning for the fourth year in a row and shattering the championship mark. Jordan Peternel won gold in the long jump with a mark of 21'8.25" and Cory Stoll won the triple jump with 40'8.25". Matthew Binion took home gold in the weight throw with a mark of 50'6".

Fontbonne University recorded its best ever finish at the championships, placing 2nd with 64 points. They were led by freshman Bryson Pickard, who became the first Griffin to collect gold at the conference championship. Pickard won the 200-meters and 400-meters. He set a SLIAC Championship and all-time record with his time of 50.54 seconds in the 400-meters. Pickard was named the SLIAC Track Athlete and Newcomer of the Year.

Webster University finished 3rd with 53 points. Kaelin Triggs paced the Gorloks with gold in the 800 meters. Also medaling for the Gorloks were Steven Aubuchon, Ethan Nieroda, Mark Govero, and Landon Garland.

Finishing in 4th was Lyon College with 41 points. John Paul Morgan goes down as the first Scot to win SLIAC gold, taking the shot put title with a distance of 46'7.25". Gage Jackson finished 3rd in the high jump while Avery Sterling was 3rd in the 60 hurdles.

Mississippi University for Women took 5th with 40 points. Sinaj Lynn placed 2nd in both the long jump and triple jump and was named the SLIAC Field Athlete and Field Newcomer of the Year. Dedrick Gates also picked up a medal, finishing 3rd in the long jump while the 4x400 relay team also recorded a 3rd place finish.

Placing 6th with 36 points was Principia College. The Principia Distance Medley Relay team of Jimmy Woodrow, Nana Koranteng, Rex Heath, and Zach Proctor picked up gold while Koranteng (400 meters) and Heath (Mile) also received individual bronze medals.

Spalding University picked up 11 points, placing 7th. Erick Jenkins brings home a bronze medal in the triple jump with a mark of 39'1.75".

Westminster College was 8th with 7 points. Elijah Teal took 3rd in the 200-meter race with a time of 22.92 seconds to lead the Blue Jays.

Eureka College tallied 4 points for a 9th place showing. Bailey Webster paced the Red Devils with his 4th place finish in the 3000 meters.

Blackburn College did not score but competed in several events. Sam Burrows was their highest individual finisher, placing 9th in the mile with a time of 4:59.59.
