NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The men's volleyball team collected their first CCIW all-conference award with George Black's selection to the CCIW second team on Monday. This was the CCIW's first all-conference team in its first year of men's volleyball as a conference sport.

Black was Greenville's most prolific offensive player with 217 kills in 52 sets over 16 matches. He finished first in the CCIW with 4.19 kills per set and ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III.

He also led the conference in attacks per set (11.98) and was second in NCAA Division III. He had 623 total attacks.

Additionally, he was third in the CCIW with 4.49 points per set and 20th in NCAA Division III.

Black had nearly three times as many kills, kills per set, and attacks as Greenville's number two producer, Andrew Martin, who ended with 73 kills, 1.40 kills per set, and 196 attacks.

George was also second on the team with 90 digs and 16 blocks.

"George Black is beyond deserving of recognition in this conference," said head coach Chad Nelson. "Although we were unable to secure a CCIW victory, George undoubtedly received all coaches and players attention on the court. I could never give him enough praise."

Outside of volleyball, George holds a perfect 4.0 GPA as a mathematics major and was pivotal in leading GU to an AVCA All-Academic Team award.

The Panthers completed their final season as an intercollegiate program with a record of 1-15 (0-6 CCIW).
