Men's cross country takes eighth consecutive SLIAC title

LITCHFIELD, Ill. - It was a historic day for Gianni Estrada in leading the Greenville University men's cross country team to their eighth consecutive SLIAC Championship.

Estrada captured his fourth consecutive title, becoming the first runner in conference history to accomplish that feat.

Estrada was pushed early on but his experience on the course showed as he pulled away mid-way through the race, finishing the 8K course in a time of 25:18. That mark is his fastest championship time, by nearly a minute, and the fastest conference champion time since 2017.

Greenville won their eighth straight title with four Panthers finishing in the top five, eight in the top ten, and 12 in the top 17. Adam Wellen finished 3rd with a time of 26:20 and was followed by Joe Gomez and Josh Medlin. Isaiah Atkins added to the scorers for Greenville, finishing seventh, with Drake Rutledge placing 9th and James Goodenow taking 10th.
