Softball team members gather more hardware

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The softball program collected a variety of regional and national awards from the NFCA and NCCAA following the completion of their 2019 season.  Among Greenville's awardees was Beth Mersinger with an NFCA NCAA Division III midwest all-region first team honor.

Senior outfielder Mersinger headlined Greenville's award winners with recognition on the NFCA NCAA Division III midwest all-region first team. In addition, she was an NCCAA second team All-American, and a member of the NCCAA North Central all-region team.

Mersinger hit .419 and led the team with 11 home runs, 51 RBI, 17 doubles, and a slugging percentage of .846.

Junior shortstop Kayla Zimmerman received honors as an NCCAA second team All-American and a member of the NCCAA North Central all-region team.

Zimmerman was the team leader with a .438 batting average, 40 runs scored, 53 hits, an on-base percentage of .473, and 20 stolen bases.

Junior utility player Deidra Holzhauer earned NCCAA third team All-American honors and was also named to the NCCAA North Central all-region team.

Holzhauer compiled a .402 batting average with four home runs and 38 RBI. She added 13 doubles and scored 39 runs.

Sophomore pitcher Maegan Stone wrapped up Greenville's winners with an NCCAA North Central all-region honor.

Stone went 8-3 in the circle with an ERA of 2.82 in 16 appearances. She started 10 games, posting three complete games, and added one save in 67 innings.

The Panthers finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 21-14, tying for second place in the SLIAC standings and finishing third in the conference tournament.
