Softball splits Saturday games at Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The softball team earned a split in Saturday's softball games against Rhodes. Greenville posted a five-inning 15-5 win in game one, followed by a 12-0 loss in five innings in game two.

In game one, the Panthers scored in every inning as they collected 15 runs on 15 hits.

Hannah Hoffman, Deidra Holzhauer, and Kendall Farr all had three hits for Greenville. Hoffman produced four RBI, and Farr homered and drove in five runs.

Kayla Zimmerman and Olivia Shipman each scored three runs for GU.

The Panther bats scored multiple runs each inning, starting with four in the first inning. In the second inning, Greenville scored twice and added four more in the third. Greenville closed their scoring with two runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth inning.

Maegan Stone pitched the complete game for the Panthers. She allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks. She struck out one.

In the second game, Greenville suffered a 12-0 setback in five innings.

The Greenville bats couldn't get much started against Rhodes, only mustering four hits. Stone had a pair of GU's hits.

Morgan Wendling started in the circle for GU and allowed eight runs on nine hits.

Farr relieved Wendling and gave up an earned run and three unearned runs in two-thirds of an inning.

Holzhauer finished the game with 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

The Panthers (1-2) are off until their Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach in March.
