Softball sweeps day one of Spring Break

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The softball team gained two victories on Tuesday in their opening games of spring break.

The Panthers dropped Lancaster Bible 9-1 and defeated Centenary (N.J.) 3-2.

GU scored two runs in the top of the first inning to get their trip started right with RBI singles by Kendall Farr and Hannah Hoffman.

In the top of the third, Hoffman provided another run scoring single, and Maegan Stone recorded an RBI single. The Panther scored their final run on a error.

LBC posted their run in the bottom of the fourth.

In the top of the seventh, Farr produced a two-run home run, and Katie Myers had an RBI sacrifice. Jaclyn Belzer provided Greenville's final run with a single.

Stone worked all seven innings for the complete game win. She allowed one run on eight hits and struck out five.

In game two, the Panthers took the first inning lead with an RBI double by Deidra Holzhauer, but they promptly gave up the advantage with two runs allowed in the top of the second.

The Panthers tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI from Belzer, and they took the lead back with an RBI single from Hoffman in the bottom of the fifth.

Farr earned the pitching win with seven innings, only allowing two runs on five hits.

The Panthers (3-2) continue their trip on Wednesday with another doubleheader.
