Softball drops a pair to Buena Vista

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The softball team played at home for the first time since April 23, 2019, and dropped a pair of decisions to Buena Vista. The Panthers fell 4-2 in the first game and 6-2 in the finale.

The Panthers opened the game one scoring with an RBI single from Hannah Hoffman in the first inning, but they allowed Buena Vista to score three times in the top of the fourth and one in the top of the sixth as they built a 4-1 lead.

Greenville rallied to score a run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI groundout from Hoffman.

Maegan Stone pitched all seven innings for the Panthers and permitted four runs on 10 hits.

Jaclyn Belzer went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Desirae Yost and Hoffman each recorded one hit.

The game two scoring started with three runs from BVU in the top of the third, but Greenville cut the deficit to 3-2 with a two run double by Hoffman.

The Beavers added single tallies in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.

Kendall Farr was GU's starting pitcher and worked 2.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits.

Alison Klaus finished the game with 4.1 innings in the circle, scattering six hits and permitting three runs, one earned, while accumulating eight strikeouts.

Hoffman and Katie Myers each recorded a 2-of-3 batting line for Greenville.

The Panthers (0-4) are off until March 19 when they travel to Indiana to play Franklin.
