CARLINVILLE, Ill. - The softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Blackburn on Wednesday. Greenville won the first game 9-1 in a shortened six inning contest before losing the second game 7-2.
In game one, Kendall Farr had a near perfect outing at the plate and in the circle. She went 3-for-4 in the batter's box with two home runs and five RBI. Farr also pitched all six innings, holding Westminster to one run on five hits with five strikeouts,
Greenville led 3-0 after the first, 5-1 after the third and 8-1 in the fourth inning.
The Panthers added a run in the top of the sixth to give them the cushion needed to shorten the game
Game two began with a Panther run in the top of the first and later in the top of the third as the team went ahead 2-0.
A sixth run fifth inning gave Blackburn an insurmountable lead, and the Beavers won 7-2.
Hannah Hoffmann delivered a 2-for-3 afternoon in the batter's box.
Maegan Stone pitched 4.1 innings, giving up six runs, four earned.
Alison Klaus permitted one run in 1.2 innings.
The Panthers (3-7) were scheduled to host Westminster on Thursday, but the game was postponed.
