Women's basketball downs MacMurray

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team outscored MacMurray in three of four quarters en route to an 88-71 win at H.J. Long Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers jumped out to a commanding 29-14 lead after the first quarter, but the Highlanders managed to cut the lead to 45-38 at halftime.

In the third period, Greenville put some distance between the teams, outpacing MacMurray 23-15 to claim a 68-53 lead.

The Panthers ended with a 20-18 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Hannah Krukewitt finished as the top scorer for Greenville with 18 points and also held the team lead in rebounds with seven.

Brittany Lopez produced a double-double with 11 points and 10 assists.

Emily Reinneck and Madelyn Stephen each finished with 15 points, and Stephen registered five steals.

The Panthers (12-8, 9-5 SLIAC) travel to Iowa Wesleyan for a game on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
