Women's basketball falls to DePauw

GREENCASTscLE, Ind. - The women's basketball team traveled to Indiana for a challenging matchup with one of the top NCAA Division III programs in the region at DePauw and suffered a 74-44 loss on Friday evening.

Greenville found themselves trailing on the scoreboard throughout the entire contest, but they displayed a valient effort.

After the first quarter, DePauw led 20-12, and the Tigers held a 34-23 advantage at halftime.

In the third quarter, DePauw added seven points to their lead to make it 54-36, and the squad outstanced GU 20-8 in the final period.

Despite the disappointing result, Madelyn Stephen led GU in scoring for the fourth time this season with a 10 point effort.  Stephen made 3-of-5 shots from the floor, including her only three-point attempt, and converted 3-of-4 free throws.

Nailah Ray posted a five rebound evening to lead GU in the category.

The Panthers (1-3) will take on DePauw for a second time on Saturday afternoon in the final game of a two-game trip.
