GREENVILLE, Ill. - A showdown between two first year programs took the stage on Saturday evening at the Farm Heritage Museum in Greenville, and the Panthers defeated Simpson 186.675-184.850 to win their first meet.
Amara Nelson received MVP honors in the meet. She competed in all four events, posting a high of 9.825 in the floor exercise. She also had a total of 9.650 in the beam and 9.4000 in the vault. She tallied a score of 9.150 in the uneven bars.
Greenville posted the highest team scores in the uneven bars (45.650-43.550) and balance beam (46.400-45.825).
The Panthers were only six tenths of a point behind or less in the vault (47.950-47.425) and floor (47.525-47.200).
Greenville also featured the event winner Sidnei Heubach in the uneven bars (9.350).
The Panthers will next compete at Lindenwood on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 1 p.m.
