What have you been up to?

My name is Kency! I graduated in 2016 with a degree in Sports Management. After graduating, I went back home where I worked as an Assistant Manager for Hibbett Sports. After getting promoted to Store Manager I had the opportunity to transfer to Florida. My boyfriend, Joseph (who I met at Greenville), made the move to Fort Myers with me. After 3 years with Hibbett Sports, I got the foot in the door that I needed and have been wanting for so long. I am now living in Miami working with the Inside Sales Department for the Miami HEAT.

Favorite GU and/or soccer memory

My favorite memory would have to be stepping out on the field every game. Every chance that I got to play was the best even if we didn't get the outcome we wanted. I also loved dancing to Danza Kuduro with my girls, Melissa Gallardo and Sara Palombo!

Advice for current ladies in the program

Give everything a chance. Take advantage of the opportunities given to you by the people you meet. You never know what connections you can make that will not only help build your resume, but create life long memories and friendships. If you have nothing to do during the summer, sign up for the Chicago Eagles!! You won't regret it.

Also, be sure to stay in contact with the coaching staff, advisors, mentors, teammates etc. Even after I graduated, I always kept in contact with Dubs, Doug Faulkner and Heidi. They've always been a call away whether it was for prayer requests, questions, advice. Especially when I made the move from Fort Myers to Miami. I can't tell you how many times Heidi gave me advice about what to wear for a job interview or looked over my resume. Don't take that for granted. I was the first in my family to graduate college and I could not have done it without the extra push from these individuals. I promise that whether it's on the field or in class, you will have the best support system at Greenville, you just have to give it a chance.
