Women's soccer earns 3-2 overtime win over Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The women's soccer team avenged an overtime loss to Spalding from earlier this season with a 3-2 win of their own in overtime on Saturday. Megan Taylor posted the match winner in the fourth minute of overtime.

Kate Arthur started the scoring for GU with a goal in the 25th minute of the match. Emma Cadwell was credited with the assist.

Before the first half ended, Spalding posted goals in the 31st and 38th minutes to take a 2-1 advantage.

Greenville tied the score late in the 87th minute of the match with an unassisted goal by Jen De Leon De Leon.

The match was evenly played with Greenville holding a 10-9 advantage in shots.

Both team recored six shots in the first half, Spalding outshot Greenville 3-2 in the second half, and Greenville had both shots in overtime.

Goalkeeper Grace Gehner ended with five saves for Greenville.

De Leon De Leon had a match high three shots for GU.

The Panthers (3-4, 3-4 SLIAC) return to the pitch on Monday with an exhibition match against Washington-St. Louis.
