Women's soccer picks up 2-0 win at Iowa Wesleyan

MEDIAPOLIS, Iowa - The women's soccer team traveled to Iowa Wesleyan on Wednesday for their final road match of the 2021 spring regular season and came away with a 2-0 shutout win.

Greenville received both goals from Jen De Leon De Leon as she obtained her team-leading fourth and fifth goals of the campaign.

Athena Hagerman provided the assist on De Leon De Leon's goal at the end of the 28th minute, and Vanessa Ramirez picked up the helper on the goal in the 90th minute.

The Panthers outshot Iowa Wesleyan 13-11 in the match, and De Leon De Leon offered five of Greenville's 13 shots.

Molly McDonnell provided three shots, all of which were attempts on frame.

Goalkeeper Grace Gehner was up to the challenge protecting the net as she collected five saves in her second shutout of the season.

The Panthers (4-4, 3-4 SLIAC) play Illinois College on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. in Greenville and their regular season concludes on Friday with a SLIAC match against Blackburn. The Panthers currently hold the fifth place position in the SLIAC standings.
