Women's soccer stretches winning streak to four

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The women's soccer team picked up another victory on Friday night, topping Illinois College 4-0 behind a surge of three second half goals.

The Panthers opened the match with a goal in the fourth minute when Kiera Coleman struck with her first goal of the season and an assist from Emma Cadwell.

In the second half, Greenville received goals in the 55th, 58th, and 82nd minutes.

Jen De Leon De Leon scored the second goal of the game, her team-leading sixth of the season, with another assist from Cadwell.

Later Megan Taylor picked up a goal with assists from Maddie Missey and Kate Arthur, and Alexis Roberts closed the scoring with an assist from Jordan Peebles.

Goalkeeper Carly Wagner earned the first start of her career and recorded the shutout, collecting seven saves in maintaining a clean sheet.

De Leon De Leon outshot Illinois College alone, picking up 15 of Greenville's 40 shots in the match. The entire IC team only posted 13 shots.

The Panthers (5-4) host Blackburn in their final regular season match on Saturday at 8 p.m. on the pitch at Francis Field. A win would most likely send GU on the road as the No. 5 seed in the SLIAC tournament to play either Westminster or Spalding on Monday.
