Women's soccer dominates Blackburn 8-0 in senior day win

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team eased to an 8-0 win over Blackburn on Saturday night, completing the spring SLIAC season with a fifth place record. At halftime of the contest, the Panthers honored seniors Kate Arthur, Courtney Lawrence, Jade Taylor, and Megan Taylor in senior day activities.

Greenville dominated play in the match, recording 79 shots, and not allowing a single shot attempt from Blackburn. The Panthers scored four times in each half.

Molly McDonnell and Kate Arthur both finished with a pair of goals. Arthur's first goal was the game-winner and came in the 20th minute.

Greenville's Jen De Leon De Leon, Jade Taylor, Kiera Coleman, and Courtney Lawrence also scored for the Panthers.

Emma Cadwell assisted on both of Arthur's goals. Taylor picked up the assist on Coleman's goal, and Coleman had the helper on McDonnell's first goal.

Goalkeepers Grace Gehner and Carly Wagner were credited with the shared shutout.

The Panthers (6-4, 4-4 SLIAC) finished their regular season on a winning streak of five matches, and they travel to Spalding for a SLIAC quarterfinal on Monday at 5 p.m.
