Women's soccer concludes season with 2-0 loss to Fontbonne in SLIAC semis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The women's soccer team gave up a pair of goals after fouls led to a penalty kick and a free kick, and they suffered a 2-0 loss at Fontbonne to end their spring season.

The Panthers managed to produce four shots on goal in the match, but Fontbonne's goalkeeper was up to the challenge, stopping all four attempts.

A penalty kick gave Fontbonne a 1-0 lead in the final minute of the first half, and the Griffins added a goal with a little over three and a half minutes remaining in the match.

Molly McDonnell led Greenville with two shots, both on frame, and the Panthers had six shots in the contest.

Goalkeeper Grace Gehner faced 17 shots, but only seven were on frame. She ended with five saves.

The Panthers (7-5) completed the season with six straight wins before Wednesday's semifinal loss. Fontbonne moves on to play Westminster in the championship match scheduled for Saturday.
